Jon Sutton
Director
Integrative Counsellor
EMDR Therapist
I’m an accredited counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and an experienced EMDR (Europe) therapist working with clients to process childhood trauma, PTSD, complex PTSD and related traumatic or distressing events. I support this IMRs for childhood trauma (imagery re-scripting) I am also a qualified supervisor for counsellors so am able to draw on a range of experience and expertise to support clients and help them resolve the challenges they experience in the present, often complicated and wrapped up with experiences from the past. I work primarily with clients 16 years and over and have significant experience working with emergency services.
I believe so much of how we are today is shaped throughout our lifetime being exposed to single or a sequence of upsetting, distressing or traumatic experiences which left unprocessed can quietly creep up on us in many forms. These can include; lack of confidence and self-esteem, panic attacks and constant exhausting anxiety, trouble sleeping, feeling flat, eating disorders, low libido and manifesting itself in unhelpful coping mechanisms such as OCD, addiction, phobias, fears and intrusive thoughts. I'm trained integratively which means I can draw from all modalities (person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, Gestalt, emotion- focused, solution-focused, transactional analysis) and trauma specific modalities (EMDR and IMRS) to find the one or mix that works best for you.
I was diagnosed with dyslexia late in life and through this have built a strong understanding of how challenging not being neuro-typical can be, enabling me to successfully support many clients with a range of neurodiverse challenges to feel understood and listened to
My clients say that I am calm and un-phased, providing a relaxed, safe space to help achieve their counselling goals. That I am able to adapt my approach dependent on what you need; from simply listening through, with permission, to being more direct and challenging.
I provide ‘in-person’ counselling at my private practice in Canterbury and virtual counselling sessions via Zoom with availability during the week, evenings and at weekends at a standard cost of £80 per session. I have a number of clients who live abroad who benefit from the flexibility I'm able to provide through zoom sessions.
If you feel I am someone you might be able to work with you can contact me for an initial free assessment on 07498 839872 by text or call. Alternatively feel free to email me;
