Janey Sutton
Director
Integrative Counsellor
EMDR Therapist
My name is Janey Sutton. I am a registered and accredited counsellor with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and a qualified EMDR therapist (EMDR Europe).
“I am passionate about helping people explore their issues and find ways of enabling people to heal and help themselves to go on and live a full and positive life.”
I am trained integratively, which means I draw from several therapeutic approaches including CBT, EMDR, Transactional Analysis, and trauma-focused CBT. This allows me to tailor therapy in a way that is very personal to you.
With over 25 years of experience in the NHS supporting individuals and families with emotional health challenges, I work with people struggling with mood, thoughts, relationships, life stress, and trauma—both past and present.
Alongside my private practice, I work as an external counsellor and EMDR therapist for a UK emergency service. I have worked with a community-based counselling charity and a domestic abuse charity. I also have lived experience as a foster carer and understand the emotional complexities of foster care and adoption for both children and adults.
I have specialist training in antenatal and post-natal mental health, offering counselling and EMDR for:
- Antenatal and post-natal depression and anxiety
- Tokophobia (fear of childbirth)
- Birth trauma
- Bonding and attachment issues
- Infertility
- Pregnancy loss
I offer a professional, caring, calm, and confidential space where you can explore your challenges without judgement. I am particularly influenced by person-centred theory and believe everyone has the capacity to heal, grow, and move forward with their life.
