Dr Cameron Adams

Integrative Counsellor

I am a BACP-accredited Integrative Counsellor with experience providing counselling in the NHS, and I hold a PhD in Medical and Cognitive Anthropology. Since 2004, I have led research into mental health issues—work which led me to co-found and serve as past director of Breaking Convention, the UK’s flagship psychedelic research organisation.

I work with adults and young people over 10 and have over a decade of experience working with neurodiversity in both educational and therapeutic contexts. I also have experience with gender, sexuality and relationship diversity.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of approaches to collaboratively find the best way to meet your unique needs. From this foundation, I will help you process the aspects of your life that may be holding you back from becoming your best self.

I work with a wide range of issues including:

  • Trauma and grief
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Repetitive thought patterns
  • Relationship challenges
  • Substance use or abuse
  • Major life decisions

Together, we will explore your experiences and identify what serves your wellbeing—and what may be let go. I draw upon a variety of therapeutic models to support this work, including:

  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Transactional Analysis
  • Gestalt
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Existential Therapy
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

My involvement in psychedelic research also places me in a strong position to support clients seeking to integrate challenging peak experiences.

As an expatriate, I understand the emotional and cultural challenges of living in a new country—including the identity struggles often faced by third culture children.

Ultimately, my goal is to help you develop a strong internal core that you can consult when life’s challenges feel overwhelming. By cultivating this inner resilience, you’ll be empowered to become your own counsellor—building independence, clarity, and strength.

I welcome clients of all races, ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, sexualities, belief systems, and spiritual orientations. I strive to offer an understanding, empathic, and non-judgmental space for all who choose to work with me.

Sessions are priced at £70 (concessional rates considered)
